If he has a 5.1 system, the ".1" is the LFE channel, which is the sub output on the receiver. Maybe he can get a good deal on a high wattage stereo pro power amp, to drive them. Use a Y connecter out of the sub output of the receiver to the amp, unless there already is two outputs.
