Yes, I know, you are bothered by so called white noise. If you disable speakers in setup mode it will still have this same noise or hiss.
You need to disconnect the speakers as you mentioned. But what dummy designed TV to look for speakers before outputs the audio out? So if your speaker blows you cannot just use audio out? I suggest sell this junk and buy something that is not designed by "dady engineer". Anyway...
You should be OK to disconnect speakers and add resistors of same R valule e.g. 8 Ohm. Since you will not use them at all (speakers) resistors may be of low power, just couple of Wats (I hope stupido engineer did not get that stupido).
And as for that technician you talked to... you did not talk to a technician (I guaraty).The person may be right in their statement, but I would connect resitors and see what happens.
