In Reply to: Why would I need a scalar posted by thefeds15@yahoo.com on March 2, 2005 at 15:12:38:
what is the native resolution of your TV.....ED? HD?.... The built-in scaler on the 5900 series (5900 or 5910) is a really good one.... What matters here is what your TV will/won't accept.I use an external scaler for my 5900 because the combination of player and my Panny Plasma makes 'macroblocking' a real issue...so i need to bypass the internal scaler and use an external de-interlacer and scaler (DVDO iScan HD, in my case)... The 5910 is supposed to be devoid of this problem so you could use the built in scaler to get the picture 'size' and aspec 'correct' for your TV. The DVI output from the 5900 was VERY good, i can expect the 5910 to be at least as good (should be better, though).
