Video Asylum

I am looking for a low cost (less than $1000) Pre/Pro that has two 6 channel inputs. This is one of the few that does. I read a lot of negative views on the digital amps and video upconversion in this unit, but I will not use these. I will use external Anthem and Mark Levinson amp with this unit and two SACD players. If it has a Phono stage I may try them. What I require is a low noise clean pre/pro that I can change the balance of the 6 ch and adjust the volume with a remote. It would be a plus to do this without a TV. Should I consider this unit.
