Their two most popular models -- the 42" ED and 50" HD models -- use Panasonic glass. The 63" model they had to source from Samsung because they wanted to offer a large display and, at the time of release, Panasonic didn't have their (1366x768) 65" version available at the time. I know someone who bought one of these and one of the first things he noticed was that the black levels were definitely not of Panasonic caliber. And if they actually go ahead with the release of the rumored 80" model, Samsung will be the provider of the glass.
The 42" HD and recently released 55" HD models are the only ones from the Fujitsu-Hitachi factory and are actually interlaced displays (I know it's crazy, but it's true).

Hi Joe,It is not as clear-cut as you make out.
…… I am not going to write reams of information about the commercial relationships between Fujitsu –Hitachi – Panasonic – Matsushita. – and others.
Suffice to say, IMHO in a side by side comparison of the current models between the Fujitsu and the Panasonic of the SAME size I much preferred the Fujitsu.
Like I said, I own lots of Panasonic gear and have a Panasonic Plasma in my bedroom system. When their displays look the best I buy them. I have found that on a few occasions over the last 6 or 7 years that the Panasonics were NOT the best Plasma Picture available. However, invariably they bring out models that are the top of the tree.
I am sure you would agree that in the world of Plasma nothing stays the best for very long! Thanks, I appreciate your comments.
