You didn't specify a price range, but a decent MC SACD/DVD player with volume control would do nicely; I don't know of any.I did try to get rid of the Preamp/processor with a pure analog MC preamp. Alas, I couldn't find an inexpensive one which accepted digital audio inputs. I opted for a MC analog 4x2 preamp combined with Universal player and kept my aging preamp/processor for DD/DTS decoding of TV broadcast sources; heck I still use it for DVD player DD/DTS decoding, at least until the time when/if I figure out the Universal's DD/DTS decoding is better than the pre/pro's DD/DTS decoding.
