In Reply to: 5.1 / Dolby Digital or any surround WITHOUT a receiver? posted by Ben on August 3, 2005 at 09:29:57:
The Meitner Switchman looks interesting...what!? $8,000!?!?I figured I would pay the price of a single SACD player, plus the preamp/surround processor sections of a decent receiver, plus a premium for the fact that it is not the type of component that is in hot demand. Say, $500.
What if I forget the DVD part, do that seperately and get a Surround Sound Processor. Any recommendations under $500?
I really just want to do this without taking up any more space on my rack. The good receivers are, like, 8" high.
HTITB...man, that's cold...Any decent ones? Or small, low power receivers with level-adjusted preamp outputs for 6 channels.
Follow Ups:
You can pick up a used Meridian 565 (though not with the Z3 7.1 mod) for sub $600
