Good info..
But will most consumers opt for any new DVD technology?
Like SACD & DVD-Audio only Niche buyers like ourselves really appreciated these new A/V wonders...
When I ask friends & co-workers If they saw a new dvd release(& they earn far more than I) "oh, we didn't get a dvd player yet for the living room" It really strikes me how they're PC'D & cell phoned to the max but have only a fleeting interest in HT..... Forget there home audio system that consists of a Suped up Ipod.....
I can remember having dozens of AC-3 laser discs too & wondering does anyone else know or care about this? I've always appreciated HT from Super Beta To SVHS & plain old film projectors... With BLU-Ray & HD DVD Wars even if there is a winner will consumers want to know?
Follow Ups:
isn't going to sweat the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD issue too much. I'm no longer in any near-term position to pay the premium for early adoption of the next latest and greatest video formats. I don't see the movie industry being in any big rush to release gobs of material in 720p, 1080i, or 1080p anytime soon (and perhaps not at all for 5.5" digital media).OTOH, this could simply be self-rationalization to justify beacoup bucks on non-1080p compatible display system....
