You should buy now, there are some great holiday deals out there, Note: stay away from samsung... for repairs are many...
I would opt for a sharp lcd 32" I got one for $1399
with HDMI, which sold for $1799 this past summer..
If CRT's your game go with go with Philips they have excellent 16:9 sets with superb images....

Incidentally, Sound & Vision 2006 buyers guide has excluded CRT sets entirely! Which was a quick way to spec out & price these......
