In Reply to: What's the best way to use 2 channel and HT with 2 preamps and 1 sub - also Velodyne SMS-1 question. posted by Michael Amster on January 5, 2006 at 19:35:37:
I use my Adcom stereo pre-amp for two phono tt's, a tape deck, and a tuner. Set at a constant level, this pre-amp is connected to my multi-channel NAD pre-pro. The pre-pro feeds an NAD multi channel power amp and a powered sub. All stereo sources (those above plus laserdiscs and those DVD's that are in 2 channel) are played in the music mode of Dolby Pro Logic II. All other DVD's are played in DTS or Dolby Digital and the pre-pro converts 5.1 material into 6.1. I use phantom channels for both the center and the rear center. The speakers are four Magnepan 1.6's.
