It depends on how the manufacturer implemented the Sharpness control for that display. Some displays are best with their Sharpness control set at 0, because as you increase the setting you can see the garbage being added to the signal and the subsequent ringing that results. Other displays may benefit from not having the setting at 0. Below some point, they actually blur the image (looks out of focus) and above another point you can see the artifacts (additional lines), thus some use of the Sharpness control is beneficial.Use a test pattern with plenty of straight lines (preferrably black). Increase the Sharpness control until you can just see white lines form parallel to the black lines, then back off a notch. You want it set just below the point of adding information that shouldn't be there.
