Actually, get the best DVD player you can find, then go into its menu system & select PCM audio, which is the CD standard. Any DVD you play will come out as stereo. The other factor is make sure your speakers are setup properly. Try using the Cardas system. Be willing to move the speakers around, because in my experience the Cardas method is only starting point & works best with American style speakers.

To be more precise I am using an old Pioneer DV-717.
I know that it is not the last word in audio quality.
In the future I could add a nice external DAC however.Thank you very much indeed.
