I'm not any video fanatics, I just want to use component video cable.
I have many generic red/white/yellow audioL/R/video cables around.
Are they compatible with component video cables?
thanks.

If you do have a lot of those Red/White/Yellow cables, check to see if any of the yellow ones are noticably thicker than the Red and White (Audio) cables that they are mated to.If you have 3 of these yellow ones that appear to be true "video" cables (rather than audio cables with yellow ends), it might be better to strip them away from the audio cables and use 3 of the (thicker) yellow video cables as component video cables ... which are just really 3 75 ohm composite video cables that are colour-coded to match the jacks on your television.
A few years ago I found several half-decent Monster composite video cables at a pawn shop for a couple of bucks a piece, and that is how I use them now.
Cheers, Mike.
You will get a picture that is about 94.673% of the way there compared to the cables designed for component video. Since you're not a "video fanatic", this should put you on Cloud 9.
