It depends on your preferences/needs.Rear Projection (includes DLP, LCD, LoS, etc.): Best bang for the buck. Especially with very large (55" and up) screens. If size is important to you, this may be the way to go. Difficulty with bright rooms and viewing from an angle. Picture not as good as Plasma or LCD.
Plasma: Best contrast and picture quality. Above 40 inches, cheaper than LCD. Poorest resolution. Most plasmas have 720 or 768 lines of resolution. Many have only 1080 horizontal resolution.
LCD: Best price for 32" and smaller screens. Best with rooms with bright lights, e.g. sky lights, windows. Have highest resolution. Can buy 32" LCD screens with 1080 lines of resolution. Horizontal resolution of 1388 or 1910. In two years, much lower LCD prices and LCD performance improvements will sharply hurt plasma sales. LCD already is number 1 in HDTV sales and in two years is projected to be over 50% of all television sales.
By the way, I'm impressed with the Vizio plasmas. They are a great buy.
