If your local authorized repair depo tells you that parts are no longer available then you may be out of luck. I used to have exactly the same model as my main VCR in my HT. It was a very nice unit. IMO it's time to move on. I then bought a SLV-975HF, but it's in my bedroom now with my entire "ex" HT video portion of my system. No VCR in the HT now, just a DVD recorder.
