My Anthem AVM-20 Pre/Pro seems to run hot which seems to cause the front left/right and center channels to occasionaly drop out. This only occurs in the hot summer months. I leave about four inches of breathing room on top of the AVM-20 but that may not be enough. I direct a fan towards my rack to cool it off. Anyone else with this problem??? Thanks

Hi there,
I had the AVM 2.0 some time ago. I remember it generating a modest amount of heat...nothing I was alarmed by; nothing more than any other pre I have owned. As far as a fan is concerned..IMHO the more circulating air around your rack, the better! I never experienced any dropouts, ever! Have you updated the firmware? Anthem is really good about keeping their software up to date. Check out the website. Additionally, if she's out of warantee, have you looked under the hood? Perhaps it could use a little tlc inside in the form of a blow out, and reset of the cards.
Hope this helps! Anthem is a truly first class component, and copmany. I hate it that youre having troubles
Hi David, while I'm not familar with your gear, how do you know that the pre is shutting it all down? For how long of a period?
Where is/are the main amp/s located, in relation? It would seem that they/it would be responsable for this.
Running a fan could cause more dust than normal, to collect on the warmer components. Does the owners manual site the surrounding free air requirements?
Whos speakers and amp/s are you running?
