Do you have the hum problem? I bought mine new in the box from Ebay and it has the hum problem since day one. The hum can be heard ten feet away cycling on and off every 10 seconds or so. I sent it back to Sony and paid for the repair because the unit was bought from a private party. They said they found no problem. Any comment is appreciated.

Follow Ups:
Have the same problem with my comcast dvr when it is inside my entertainment center cabinet. The hum is the hard drive which is always on and is somehow amplified by the cabinet. I now keep it outside on its side against the cabinet and can not hear it at all. Hope this helps.
