You don't quite have it right. The '05 SXRD has a native resolution of 1080p, but *cannot* accept a 1080p signal. It will take a 1080i interlaced signal, and deinterlace it to 1080p. If your denon will upscale to 1080p, the TV will not accept it. Period. You will have to have the Denon upscale to 1080i and send that signal to the TV, which will turn it to 1080p.
FWIW, upscaling a DVD to 1080p is NOT the same as seeing true 1080p source material-though it IS nice.:-)

I understand that my Sony SXRD television will not accept 1080p, but can display it. However, can it display true 1080p which is 60 frames per second or 1080p @ 30 fps?. I think your telling me to set the Denon DVD player setting to 1080i. Correct?
Ok, if so, my television will de-interlace that 1080i signal from the dvd player to 1080p @ at 30 frames per second (unlike 1080p @60 frames per second which is true 1080p) Am I Correct? Gosh, I wish I was not such a newbe. Hope I am not bothering you.What occurrs if I set the dvd player to output 1080p? Will the television explode? hehehe

That depends on the source. I beleive film is 24fps. I don't know any sources that are 1080p/60. Both HD DVD and Blu-ray are 1080p/30 encoded on the discs. 1080p60 takes up too much space.Remember, your player is only upscaling the 480 info on your DVD.
I have a 60" SXRD, and my HD DVD player takes the 1080p30 from the disc, interlaces it to 1080i60 which the TV the deinterlaces back to 1080p30 (or 3:2 pulldown-a seperate issue).
