What new technology should I keep an eye out for? Is there something new in the research department thats ready to come out?

Your right in not taking any compromises if you want the best picture. Another factor in this equation is that big screen prices keep coming down and down---sort of like what computers did a few years ago.

With Outboard tuners or any thing outboard for that matter they never quite integrate as well as a built in tuner.

Anothe thing is that waiting for all these technologies to come together (Blu-ray, HD-DVD,etc) is that the whole system will integrate at its best when the manufacturers have all these tools to work with.
