The Sony 50" SXRD KDS50A2000 looked a bit better than the JVC HD-ILA comparable version. I especially noticed when they showed pseudo PC screen shots with Folder names that were rather small but deciferable enough to notice that the Sony showed the letters to be a bit more clean.
One thing i didn't like about the LCoS displays was the darkness around the corners of the screen and the dispersment of darkness across the screen when viewed at a slight angle, whether be to the side or vertical. I guess that's what makes it a projection unit. The XBRs were WAY too bright and fatiguing for me...i wanted to see if i could desaturate it but didn't mess with it.
Of course i saw a beautiful Elite 1080P Plasma unit for 7K.
I think what i am going to have to come to grips with is that my budget($2500) will force me to compromise somewhere...it's just a matter what it is i'll be resigning myself to put up with.
Follow Ups:
You have to play with the settings. The sonys are set of full blast, sort of a "flame mode". Most people change every setting at home. The 1080p plasmas are nice, I debated a 65" for my family room, but I'll wait for now.
Have fun,
Jack
Hitachi has 55 inch plasma's you can get for around 2500 inc. stand on the tv,i bought a 42 very nice pic,and as far as reflections does very well even in a bright room.
