In Reply to: Best DVD player (that does audio well) for street price of $1K or less posted by MMasztal on March 5, 2007 at 16:36:03:
I agree with the Duke and purchased the Pioneer 79. A lot of people like the oppo for video (not sure about its audio) thru the hdmi. If you dont own any disk then jump on the blu ray or hd formats because they look wonderful and you will want to replace any dvds you have. Unfortunately I own a boatload of dvds and will not abandon that format so I am stuck with the 79. Picked up an hdmi switch from dell and that helps me cope with the different players with only 2 hdmi inputs on the sony sxrd. Also you can go to avsfourm.com for reviews of players. I dont know if forums help or confuse. But you can find user opinion about most common players. I think the pioneer is a wonderful player and not expensive but not cheap. Built like a brick and plays any disk I throw at it. Available used in the $500 range as people jump to the hd formats.
