Hi Folks,
I just bought a used Panasonic 32" Crt 480i TV. The picture looked great when I auditioned at the folks that I bought it from(Direct TV).
When I got it home everthing looks good but flesh tones. They look kinda orange.I don't have cable just an entry level Panasonic DVD. I have ordered a set on 75 ohm compnent cables from Bluejean. I currently have it connected useing entry level XLO audio IC's.
I have checked all the settings I can think of.
Follow Ups:
A 480i TV can't use a progressive signal. Component inputs on such a TV are really not necessary and often the calibration is off versus the other inputs (composite and S-Video)
Try an S-Video connection from the DVD player, might well be better.
The obvious answer is some difference in the setup. Some TVs can store different settings for different inputs so the first question has to be are you using a different type of connection from your DVD player than was being used when you auditioned it? If you are using a different type of connection and your DVD player has a similar video out to what was being used with cable, try the same sort of connection as was used with the cable setup.
Some sources also allow you to change picture setting parameters like brightness, contrast, etc. Maybe the cable box had that facility and they had tweaked those settings on the cable box.
The simplest solution: get a DVD like Digital Video Essentials or even a film with the THX Optimiser test patterns on it, along with the proper blue filter, and adjust your picture settings on the TV to give you good results.
