Got "GetGray" and have a few questions.1. I had my Panny set on "vivid" and switched it to "standard" to do tests. Things looked a lot less brilliant and IMO less interesting. Is vivid the wrong way to go and should I just get used to standard? Will leaving it on vivid lessen the life of the screen?
2. On the "5% Step Gray Ramps" I never could get the white bars past the tick mark to blend into one. How do I fix this?
3. What test pattern do I use to adjust the sharpness setting?
I went to the AVS forum for some answers but the thread is 55 pages long now and most of it is beyond my understanding as a novice. Hoping I can get some quick answers here.
Follow Ups:
1. Yes. Vivid looks unreal to my eyes. Personally I favor a more muted balance. I also tend to back off on the color until its almost B&W, then add a few(2-4) clicks/steps of color. Skin tones is my goal, correct skin tone.
2. Not sure about that one.
3. I use the multiple pinstripe pattern to set sharpness, look at the dividing lines, back off to zero sharpness then creep up until the lines starts to breakup and look tizzy, then back off (lower) until the "tizziness" is gone. That usually sets my sharpness level very low, less than 10.You should take the time to read the 55pages, most of the tips for a better picture can be found in the first 10-15 pages.
