I posted a message a while ago about my Mitsubishi M-VR800 A/V receiver having problems operating in its surround modes and the optical digital input did not function at all. I could not return it because I bought it as a floor model and they didnt inform me I couldnt return it until it broke. Well I took it in to get serviced cause that was my only option, and I just got it back last night. It works in all of its surround modes now, but the optical digital input still does not work. I am going to take it back tonight and see if they can do a better job. Does anyone know what could have gone wrong? And does anyone know a way I can weasel my way into getting a refund? And suggestions and answers? Thanks in advance.

How good of a customer have you been? If you've bought a lot of stuff in the past, and if you are willing to exchange the receiver as opposed to getting your money back you might be in luck. But if you never spent a dime there before. Or if you've been demanding in the past, you maybe out of luck.If the above holds true ask to speak the the manager. Calmly explain what happened and be reasonable in what you expect. If they don't have a record of what you've bought in the past bring in reciepts. In my humble opinion reasonable would be a store credit or exchange for at least the price you paid for the receiver. I don't know if you paid for the repairs but you might want to mention it if you did.
Good Luck,
Jeff
I doubt you will get a refund. You may wish to approach the distributor for the product in your country and explain the situation. They may offer to repair it, but it is hard to say what will happen. What went wrong? Who knows? What difference does it make? I think that next time you should look for better quality products or at least one with a warrenty. The money saved on faulty wares is no saving at all.
