I am trying to find an affordable HT receiver as my first time ever foray into HT. Most receivers are rated into 8 ohms, and I am wondering if there are any receivers that can drive 6 ohms?
Follow Ups:
... the impedence of speakers varies so widely with frequency these sorts of figures are meaningless. You might find a few leads to a suitable receiver in issue 34 of the magazine "The Perfect Vision". (http://www.theperfectvision.com/). They rated and reviewed 36 receivers in that issue. Of the ones listed The Marantz SR-19 @ $1700 was a highly praised 4 star unit although they disliked the remote. The Marantz SR-8000 @ $1400 was the only recommended 3 star unit and the Sony STR-DB840 @ $600 was rated a very good 2 star item. In their specs chart the speaker impedence did not rate a mention, reflecting its unimportance.
Hope this helps
