Some of the lack of volume experienced on DVD tends to be because there are not really any agreed standards for TV sound record levels, and the greater use of Dynamic range by Digital soundtracks, hence why some dvd's are considerably louder than others. This coupled together with the actual output of the DVD players being quite low anyhow. As you say, the only real option you have is to crank it up a bit, or get a line level amp from a pro audio dealer.Roland
