my blue convergence is off on my rca proj t.v. using the convergence adjustment on the menu doesnt help.if one area of the screen is right, then another section is out of alignment. how difficult is it to do an adjustment by getting a service manual? do you generally have to open up the set? are there usually sub menus that you can access via the serv. man? i am not too hot on opening up the set. or should i just break down and get it serviced? if it is possible to do this myself i would like to, for the experience alone. thanks in advance.

Hello, you can do it yourself if you're good, *and* you find out how to access your service menus (assuming your set is fairly new & has electronic remote-based convergence). Most newer sets can be converged w/o opening the set. But if it's a more than a few years old, it could be either design. Besides, they do need to be opened up occasionally & have the mirror and lenses cleaned.
Finding the service procedure is going to be the hard part. If you do do it yourself, be sure to write down all the original settings, so if you get lost & the picture's all screwed up, you can go back to your baseline settings...

Kevin
