I'm interested in archiving some of my VHS and Video-8 tapes onto the PC for Video CD.What would be the best consumer model interface card to do this? I'd like to record the analog stereo audio section of the video as well.
Thanks for your input.
David
Follow Ups:
Here is what is involved:1. get analog signal into PC and capture as MPEG
Any good video card with video input will do or Dazzle outboard video capture device (various models )You need newer PC to do it, on older PC hard drives are not fast enough and skip frames
2. Burn MPEG as VCD or SVCD to be read by standlalone DVD player
Not every DVD can read SVCD so VCD is safer bet.MPEG file has to be in VCD 2.0 standard. Cd burning programs capable of doing it are Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 or Nero Burning Rom 5
you might consider asking your local Asian video store to do it for you (cost is in the range of $10-15 per 1 VCD =approx. 1hr)
