hi,
is anybody like me and want a fairly cheap, non space hungry, easy solution to home cinema without compromising your good two-channel amp? DSP-e800 looks good, but what about a 4 channel version for
DTS-EX sound and logic7 + prologic2 also.. maybe i would feel better if the unit wasnt avaliable for £230 ($180) and there was a slightly higher spec DAC inside and nice amplification.. most audiophiles want a product like the DSP-e800 (withg all the new extras) but are yamaha assuming that we want a poor quality compromise? given the alternatives i.e. separate power amps, processors or full integrated model (losing your two channel with that one!) come on why arnt any other manufcaturers gettin in on the act? is it a case of "highend will have processor-poweramp anyway and lowerend wont notice the difference?" what does everyone else thinkthanks
Follow Ups:
I use a Yamaha DSP-E492 processor with a Pioneer DV-626D DVD player with built in Dolby digital & DTS decoders in my seperate amp/preamp music system- the Yamaha has a 3 channel amplifier for the center channel and surrounds, and 5.1 analog inputs for the feed from the DVD player, as does the DSP-E800 you mentioned. All things considered, I'm pleased with the result-DVD's sound fine, particularly those with DTS soundtracks, although I must admit I'm much pickier about 2 channel sonics than surround sound. I'd say give the Yamaha a try- at the very least it won't compromise your stereo performance.Regards,
Ken
