I recently did some head to head testing on amp ranging from @ $700-$5000 and came down to two amps.

My personal choice was the Sunfire Cinema Grand signature series.

Running a close second (and more in the price range you are looking for) was the Outlaw.

These amps had plenty of power, and they are very transparent.

With a price difference of $2500 you really are getting the most bang for your buck from the Outlaw. (Priced @ $1000)
