Does anyone know of a universal Windows based remote control program? I want to use my laptop as a remote control to control my entire home theater setup thru either the infra-red port or the serial port. My pre-pro has an rs-232 jack for remote contolled devices like crestrons (but they are just way too expensive).

Personally I could not hack (pun intended) a laptop as a remote. Note the complaints re the Meridian remote which is larger than most.The PRONTO is a superbly powerful and flexible unit programmagble from a computer. It also has a back light for use in the darl. Its buttons can be labelled to suit your purposes and macros give cross control of items. Their is a net site devoted to it at
