I own a Barco 800 CRT projector and am considering a line doubler/quadrupler. It is my understanding that my unit will support both. Am I correct and what are the plusses and minuses associated with line doubling/quadrupling? Also, after considerable fine tuning, close up shots on my Barco 800 are stunning. But distance shots are fuzzy and text is virtually unreadable. Will a doubler/quadrupler help with this issue?

A quick reply while I am waiting for transport to JOH airport. We have a Barco VSE40 with our 808S - this gives the option of doubling or quadrupling. We project on to a 112 inch screen & without doubling or quadrupling the lines are clearly visible.
However I suggest you might like to investigate fine tuning & tweaking the projector before jumping into a VSE40 or a doubler card. Incidentally I read somewhere that Barco is not easily matched to some other brand components.
Got to go now - email me further at the end of the week when I return home if you feel I can be of further help.

PS: It took months of frusration to tweak our system.
Just installed a DVDO doubler and re tweaked convergance adjustments. This took a total of approx 3 hours. I had read that a doubler was especially effective on CRT projectors and I must agree. It actually makes all the difference in the world! Purchased a DVDO V1 on EBAY for $265.Joel
