You could get a cheap processor for movies and a high end preamp for music and run your front two channels via the high end preamp when watching movies. On my setup, I do this. I have a passive and set the volume control to vertical (12:00 position) for movies. For music, no HT stuff is in the loop. My passive, an FT Audio LW1 was about $500, my Sony-ES SSP was about $700 in it's day (discontinued). I was thinking like you are about getting both in one box...it would have cost thousands more.I believe my current setup is the best of both worlds...and cost effective.
