I used to work for a TV repairman that made his own. All I remember is that is was loops of insulated wire in about an 18" circle wraped with electrical tape. The loop was about 1 inch in diameter. It also had an on/off switch on the cord.Is there a a certain guage wire and how many loops?

Follow Ups:
20 guage will do just fine, and you can make it a bit smaller - 12" in diameter (will be easier to use), but more like 1 1/2" in diameter. There is no great rocket science to it.
Could I use extension cords to build it? I assume wrapping it in electric tape is an important step?
