I'm surprised you don't like the Def Tech's. Long ago I stopped believing what people called High End. The only thing that matters to me, is how a system sounds. I have only read excellent reviews on the receiver and the speakers.I have a low end Sony DVD and a Sony KV-35XBR450 TV. Any DVD will produce a very good picture. But I do plan to purchase an "expensive" progressive scan DVD in the near future. As for the Sony, it is the best picture I have seen. And I will not purchase a 16x9 High Def TV until far more 16x9 format is available. I can't see paying 5 to 10 grand for a TV and then watch a distorted picture.
While some may not call the Denon and Def Tech's "High End", I think the system (speakers and receiver) compares favorably to my old "Very High End" two channel system for much less money.
Old System:
Krell KPS-20i CD player,
Krell KRC-HR preamplifier
Krell FPB-300 power amps
Genesis V speakers,
AudioTruth Dragon speaker cable
AudioTruth Diamond interconnectsBTW, I paid my way through college playing rock bands. This system was my way of staying close to the music I loved. And yes this system does sound awesome.
