In Reply to: anyone know if a 18' long room with 8' ceilings is too small for a projector? posted by late on November 09, 2001 at 09:41:27:
It depends on the throw of the projector but you shouldn't really have a problem with most models out there -- subject to desired screen size. I have a room 20' X 18' and a sony 8" crt projector on a 120" diag screen (by the way, this is way too big for an ISF standard given the 8" projector but I'm willing to put up with it for the "wow" factor of the large screen...also, I have a dedicated room that is completely dark for viewing purposes) and the throw distance is about 14 feet. The only model that I know of to watch out for is a Denon lcd (don't recall the model) that had a very long throw distance. Just make sure to check the manufacturer's specs and you shouldn't have a problem.
