Looking to purchase a secondary DVD player for our master bedroom with great picture capability. Will not be using this for CDs, CDRs, MP3, etc, surround, etc., so looking for what will bring the best video experience.The DVD will be connected to a late 80's Sony television so it also doesn't need to be a progressive scan, etc. Looking for a DVD that does plays back DVDs in superb quality & without a lot of frills.

Although you don't need a player with progressive scan, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 capability, the Toshiba 3750 has all these as well as good build quality and is made in Japan to boot. Enthusiast reviews on the internet have been very positive, and downconversion appears to be much improved from previous generation Toshibas. My local Best Buy had this magnificent player on sale for $189 last week.
