In Reply to: SONY DVP-9000ES w/ aftermarket power cord? posted by CHINMAN on November 21, 2001 at 08:35:57:
I fabricated a Chris VenHaus cables formula 1 using Marinco connectors. The largest improvement with my 9000ES was on analog output. There is a darker noise floor and the sound seems more open and focused. I feel there was improvement across the frequency range but especially in the midrange. The additional clairity and midrange improvement have improved the imaging as well as stage width and depth. The improvements were WELL worth the investment. I was honestly a skeptic as far as the power cord improving the system, but I very much proved myself wrong. I've since also replaced my amp cords with additonal improvement in the sound. I still have a hard time swallowing this! Even went as far as bringing in non-audio friends and relatives in for sessions and even they heard the difference. Really twilight zone stuff as far as I'm concerned. But I'm not too proud to use them.

I posted a write-up for mods to this unit on Tweakers. Why not have a look at it? This mod was one of the easiest I have ever made to any unit and it made one of the biggest differances I have ever seen. bobwire
