I just got the Marantz sr 7200 and it sounds great just one ? Is it normal on this unit to have to get the vol to about -20db to get have it at a moderate level. This seems about 3/4 vol. My old marantz was louad as hall at half vol. Just Curious!
Follow Ups:
hi joezone,i have the 7200 as well and i typically play music (2 channel) at around -30 db in our 17x13 living room (which is very open, so effectively, it's larger). for five channel home theater operation, i have it cranked at around -10 db (to accomodate the larger dynamic range). my speakers on this setup are 92 db sensitivity so that could explain our slight differences. i wouldn't worry too much about the volume level as long as its not clipping for the maximum levels you ever hope to achieve.
note, max volume level (who knows if it will clip before then) is +15 db...that's 35 db higher than you are currently playing...lots of "oomph to spare" if the amp's clipping occurs near that "max point."
