Not sure what your budget is but the DVD player which is currently the best (in all senses of the word) is the Philips Q50 and is available around the $400 USD mark. I'm putting my money where my mouth is and getting one - should be here today or tomorrow unlocked to play any zone.Do a net search with Google for it and you will see why I bought one. Personal impressions soon.

DV-434 is one of the best value, IMHO. Our Costco in Seattle area has it for $156.
The newer DV-444 is a good buy also.
Both 434 and 444 make good transports too if you have an outboard 96/24 DAC.
