OK,I was in J&R the other day and noticed they had the Panasonic RP-56 for $219 and the RP-60 for $229. The RP-60 adds DVD-A. My question is that the 56 is very highly regarded since it uses the better DVDO chip from Silicon Image rather than the Genesis chip. Does the RP-60 as well? Are the players basically equal on other levels except having the DVD-A option?
My guess is the 60 is an inferior player in other regards but adds the DVD-A option. I am really looking to get a good video performing prog scan player and just thought why not check out the DVD-A hype for $10 more? But I am skeptical that it is on par with the 56.
Follow Ups:
The DVD-RP56 doesn't use the DVDO or Genesis de-interlacer chip; it uses the Faroudja DCDi chip. The DVD-RA60 is not a progressive-scan player, but it does play DVD-Audio discs. It also has built-in Dolby Digital/DTS decoding.
The 'RP56 is potentially the better video performer, but only if you connect it to a progressive-compatible digital TV. Conventional TVs can't display progressive-scan signals. Hope this helps.

Sorry had mixed up the chip, I knew it had one of the either the Sage or the DVDO as opposed to the older genesis. I didn't know the RP-60 wasn't progressive. Thanks,
And I do have a HD tv.
