Based on my experience, it won't work that way. First, you need digital cable converter which decodes the cable TV signal to 5.1 digital signal. My digal cable converter box does not have digital out (sucks!) and have no way to enjoy 5.1 channel sound from digital cable TV. I have sold my AV receiver anyway, so I now don't care. But then again, you MAY be able to connect the cable tv coax to av receiver. Why don't you try? I won't be held responsible, though. Good luck! Ken
