... you can only do it if you have a "digital out" for audio. The 5.1 signal is digitally encoded. If you only have analog out then I guess you will only hear stereo with pro logic. Our "free to air" broadcasts are still analog so Dolby Pro Logic is all that is carried. However it is due to change to digital soon. Here we already receive digital video via satellite but, like you, have no digital audio out so cannot get better than pro logic.However I hasten to add that Pro Logic II is very good and I am starting to feel that DD 5.1 is over hyped and that, done well, pro logic is just as good. The discrete rear channels have not, as yet, added very much to the surround enjoyment here although I concede the discrete centre & subs do.
