LED projectors are already on the market, sold by companies like Sony, NEC, Mitsubishi and a number of others. They used fixed panels.
The panels are somewhere between .5 and .9 inches.

Screen size is variable, based on a function of throw distance and lens optics.

Your technique is much closer to TIs 3-chip DLP implementation, which is prohibitively expensive at this time.
