Yes, several people are reporting that the player freezes randomly on various (random) discs even with the latest firmware update.See: www.avsforum.com for more details in the DVD hardware section

I have 157 hours on my Q50 with no problems what-so-ever. Great audio playback, I now enjoy SVCD's and all of the plastic records I have convereted to CD-A play with exceptional faithful reproduction
