Have an older prologic h.t. system built around a sony tae1000esd preamp, aragon&marantz amps and thiel& def.tech. speakers. Just added a sony dvpnc650v changer that plays dvd,cd,sacd, etc.this unit also has built-in digital decorders(dolby/dts).Not being ready to buy that new digital preamp thats missing sacd digital inputs and whatever else, looking for a way to intergrate the new audio with the old. A solution would be sony's tap9000es 5 channel analog preamp, but spending $600 to upgrade a $1000 processor to a $400 dvd player seems a little excessive. Anybody know of a budget av recevier that has 5.1 inputs and 5.1 pre-outputs?
Follow Ups:
Audio Refinement make an all analog unit, no processors what so ever. I is a nice unit, but not budget at $800.
A good solution would probably be the Technics SH500D DD/DTS processor. It includes a couple of digital inputs (coax and toslink) a 5.1 analog passthru, and 5.1 analog outputs. These typically go for anywhere from $100-$200 used (out of production now, $299 new I think).
