I agree, that with time and care we can create a really good experience in our listening/HT rooms. I have a room where magic happens, although as Sam said it has taken plenty of effort. I only have a 36" direct view as well, but it is quite good after careful adjustment.

I can put on the James Taylor DVD Live at the Beacon Theater in Boston and really think I'm there (soundwise for sure), I was.

There are no absolutes about what is or isn't but I like what I got.
