I'm confused about S-Video format. I just got a laptop with DVD, and I want to connect it to my TV. THe only video out on the computer is S-Video. I got an adapter and cable from Radio shack and plugged it into the RCA video in of my VCR, thinking that would work. I also use a laser disc with this input, so I know that the problem is not the VCR setting. DO I need to do something special to get the computer to output via the S-Video? Or am I making some other mistake?THanks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

depending on your brand of graphics card there are settings that will need to be fiddled with. on my matrox duel head once you enable it, its set for for good and picks up a movies and send it to the tv. on my gforce card, i have to make a switch and loose the computer monitor when the tv is on. this for instance is a major pain and i dont use it since i cant see the tv from the computers. sure directions from kids as to where the mouse is on the screen is handy but it can be a bit taxing as well. ah, a lap top no problem!
check your output mode in display properties-settings-advanced.bmar
THanks for the tip. I think I know where you're talking about looking. In the advanced section, under S3 display, there is a section that lists the TV as a possible display device. Right now it's checked with a red X, but I'm going to try to see if when I plug in an SVideo cable if maybe it will become an option.- T
