MPEG 4 is suppose to be MUCH better compression software for video (almost no loss in quality). One drawback is that you would need to play back the movies on a computer (which you could connect to your HT). Another is that it takes ALOT of computing power to compress a DVD movie (like running overnight). The software is still free. If you are interested, you can read more about it at the link below.
