See if you can find a used AMC AV81HT-DD (does Dolby Digital but not DTS). Unit is well built, slim profile, simple remote. Sounds great. Can be had for at least half, if not less than, its original $1400 price.

Older Sherwood (9080) and Rotel (985?) processors are being had for relatively little money. The Sherwood has DTS.

You could probably explore a couple different processors from the used market that can do DD.
